Contemporary Museum director Irene Hofmann is leaving Baltimore for Santa Fe, N.M., officials announced Friday. Hofmann, who guided the Mount Vernon museum's eclectic programming for 4 1/2 years, will become the director and chief curator of the arts museum SITE Santa Fe, effective Oct. 1.

"I'm going to miss it here, a lot," Hofmann said. "It's been totally inspiring to be here. … I'm going to a place that shares a lot of the mission and focus of the Contemporary, but on a larger scale."
