A taste of Baltimore's wine bar scene

With the opening of Vino Rosina, there's no shortage of wine bars in the city.

Fells Point, Federal Hill, Harbor East and Hampden now have at least one wine bar each. And with the accessibility of boutique wines, you could spend a week touring local wine bars and never sip the same stuff twice. Each of these three wine bars, from the waterside V-NO to the funky 13.5%, has something different to offer wine lovers.

13.5% Wine Bar

Despite its awkward name, 13.5% Wine Bar is a welcome addition to Hampden's nightlife scene. Comfortably stylish, it has a '60s chic feel, with hardwood floors, stone walls and decorative hanging lamps. The wine list is impressive, and the cocktails more than you'd expect from a wine bar. If you like the wine you ordered, you can pluck a bottle from the formidable wall rack and take it home with you. Bottles are priced to go or uncork inside the bar. 13.5% Wine Bar is at 1117 W. 36th St. Call 410-889-1064 or go to 13.5winebar.com.

V-NO

A cute wine bar with coveted outdoor seating, V-NO has soft, yellow tones and big front windows. Nestled in along the harbor in Fells Point, V-NO groups its wines by color and adjective. You can browse the menu or shelves by blush, lush, crisp, bubbly, juicy and so forth, and build a mini-tasting menu. Get there early if you want a waterside table. You won't be disappointed. V-NO is at 905 S. Ann St. Call 410-342-8466 or go to v-nowinebar.com.

Metropolitan Coffeehouse and Wine Bar

It's hard not to find something interesting on Metropolitan's ever-changing wine list. Metropolitan has a classic pub vibe, with stretches of brick and dark wood and art hanging on the walls. The beer list is one of the city's most underrated, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Metropolitan Coffeehouse and Wine Bar is at 902 S. Charles St. Call 410-234-0235 or go to metrobalto.com.
