‘30th Anniversary Stay and Play' at Charleston, S.C., resort
What's the deal? Wild Dunes, a 1,600-acre island resort located 15 miles from Charleston, S.C., is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Tom Fazio-designed golf course with a package that includes $30 rooms when guests book a round of golf at the regular rate of $165.
What's the savings? A weekend room at the resort's Boardwalk Inn in mid-May would be about $280 per night. The resort's condo-style rooms start at around $314 per night. So guests are saving $85 to $119 per night just on the room cost. It's almost like getting the round of golf for free. (Resort guests normally receive a discount on golf with rates ranging from $95-$115.)
If you're not a golf fan, the resort also has a "stay more, save more" offer with discounts based on length of stay: 15 percent on three nights; 20 percent on 4-6 nights; and 25 percent on 7 nights.
What's the catch? You can reserve by phone only. Also, you must stay on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. The offer is based on availability and good for stays through May 27.
