Baltimore Sun

MERRY MART: If you don't make it to Holiday Heap on Saturday, you have another chance this weekend to shop for clever crafties and great gifties at The Patterson, 3134 Eastern Ave., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You'll find everything from wall decor to soap. Admission is free. Go to creativealliance.org.

CANTICLE SINGERS: The women's choir known as the Canticle Singers of Baltimore has been a welcome addition to the cultural scene for more than two decades. The ensemble's holiday concert, featuring Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," will be performed at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles St. Tickets are $12 and $15. Call 410-374-9312.

REFLECTIVE PIANO: Olivier Messiaen's "Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant Jesus" for solo piano is a profound expression of the composer's deep Catholic faith, but its musical power is universal. Peabody Institute alum Matthew Odell will perform the extraordinary work at 3 p.m. at An die Musik, 409 N. Charles St. Tickets are $8 and $12. Call 410-385-2638 or go to andiemusiklive.com.

DIZZEMBER FESTIVAL: Give the gift of a good education and benefit The Community School. The first annual event includes arts and crafts vendors, face painting, holiday music, food and drink specials and a visit from a gift-toting Santa Claus at The Dizz, 300 W. 30th St. Purchase ornaments for $5 to make a donation. The event runs from noon to 7 p.m. Santa visits at 5:30 p.m. and the Dizz tree lighting takes place at 6 p.m.

RAPHAEL SAADIQ: The former Tony! Toni! Tone! member combines musical vibes from the '60s and '70s. Relive that "old-school" feeling at Rams Head Live, 20 Market Place, at 7 p.m. Anjulie also performs. Tickets are $35. Go to ramsheadlive.com.
