Like/dislike: KJ Mohr, director of film at Creative Alliance

KJ Mohr has programmed film festivals around the country for years. But it at started, she said, "for very selfish reasons."

"I devoured all the foreign videos from my public library, but I knew there was a lot of independently produced film out there that I did not have access to, " said Mohr, 38. "And the only way to get my hands on it was to organize public screenings. For years, Mohr, who was born in Ripon, Wisc., and now lives in Highlandtown, has worked with various LGBT film festivals. Next up: the Charm City LGBT Film Festival Friday and Saturday at Creative Alliance, where Mohr directs film and digital media programming. Mohr called the festival a mini-marathon of the best of queer filmmaking from the past year. Here, Mohr talks to b about her favorite trend in filmmaking, "big girls" strutting their stuff and more.

Worst pet peeve? People who don't use their directional signals in cars. And it's almost always because they're on their f---ing cell phones

What's on your iPod? A whole lot of MPB (Brazilian pop) and mixes from friends. Since moving to Baltimore last January, I'm a Wye Oak convert, too.

What song are you hating/loving right now? The last few days it'sMary J. Blige's "Reminisce" on repeat. Can't get enough MJB.

Favorite new trend in filmmaking? Transgender and genderqueer stories being told. Eye-opening and refreshing!

Your worst habit? I am excessively phlegmy and I blow my nose a lot. It's kind of loud. C'est moi!

Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? Fear of feminism. So not cool!

Favorite/least favorite band? Moreno Veloso's trio with Domenico Lancelloti and Alexandre Kassin is the best. Yum.

Last movie you liked/disliked? "Madame X" totally blew my mind. The world's first Indonesian transgender superhero! Was not expecting it, but WHOA, everything about that film is FABULOUS and smart! (screening at the festival 11 p.m. on Saturday!

Most underrated filmmaker? Osvalde Lewat-Hallade . She was a journalist in Cameroon before delving into filmmaking. With extraordinary cinematography, she tells amazing stories of African situations we need to know about.

Last video that made you snort with laughter? The Japanese viral video of the birthday business cat never ceases to amuse me.

TV shows you can't get enough of?"Parks and Recreation,""Boardwalk Empire," and "Nurse Jackie"

Favorite book you recently read? Ina May Gaskin's"Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta" — good crunchy stuff! Did I mention I'm eight months pregnant with twins?

Best way to unwind after a long day? Good music via headphones on the walk home. Turn it up!

Favorite guilty pleasure? Obsessive Solitaire City on my phone. And using too much precious water to bathe. Will our children suffer? Sure is good for now!

Last great meal you had? My dad's authentic Swiss cheese fondue preceded by my mom's homemade raspberry cordial and followed by her sugar cookies. Mmmm!

Food you hate? Mushrooms. YUCK!

Favorite and most loathed fashion statements? Maybe they are one in the same: I love it when big girls just strut their stuff. But I hate the tight-top-revealing-stomach-rolls look that has proliferated over the past few years. Especially on teenagers. Why???

Favorite thing about Baltimore? The wealth of down to earth, accessible, smart and talented people
