Like/Dislike with Lauren Saunders, actor

How's this for a challenging role? A young girl travels through time with her younger sister. Oh, and she's determined to kill God.

Still, Lauren Saunders was down for playing Lucy in Single Carrot Theatre's "A Beginner's Guide to Deicide."

"I was attracted to this play because it challenges a lot of constructs — religion, gender, power and more," said Saunders, 25, who's a fellow with Single Carrot and also works for the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance. "It afforded me the opportunity to explore things as an actor that I had yet to explore."

Saunders, who's originally from Long Island, N.Y. and now lives in Mount Vernon, started acting in school and camp plays as a child. After moving to Baltimore in 2012, she filled a vacant acting spot at Single Carrot's 24 hour play festival and her relationship with the troupe flourished.

Before fighting God before audiences ("Deicide" opens at 7:30 tonight and runs through Oct. 27; $18-$25;, Saunders talked to us about Miley Cyrus, her dream role and more.

Worst pet peeve? Litter. On the streets and in homes.

What song/songs are you loving/hating right now? I cannot stop listening to "Life" by the Avett Brothers.

Last concert/gig you went to? Virgin Mobile FreeFest. The Avett Brothers played and they were awesome. This might explain my current obsession with "Life"

Your worst habit? Misplacing things, particularly my keys. Also, whining about misplacing things.

Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? I dunno, bringing up Miley Cyrus as some sort of conversation starter?

Last movie you liked/disliked? I recently re-watched "The Kings Speech" when dog-sitting and I realized just how much I enjoy it. It is great for a lot of reasons, including seeing Helena Bonham Carter playing someone relatively normal and being quite good at it.

Your most-wanted role? I would love to play both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Maybe at the SAME TIME. Boom!

TV show you can't get enough of? I love "Parks and Recreation."

Last great meal you had? Breakfast: Jack and Zach's — they have the BEST pancakes. Dinner: Pasta with brie, with veggies that were sautéed in white wine. Also, I recently had the goat cheesecake at Tapas Teatro — that stuff is like heaven on a plate. Can you tell I love food?

Favorite place to get a drink in Baltimore? I love going to Dougherty's; it is so laid back and reasonable. If I'm feeling fancy, the Owl Bar or Woodberry Kitchen.

Favorite thing about Baltimore? The people. It sounds corny but this city has a lot of heart and with all the bad in every day life I find a lot of good and joy in the people here.
