Like/dislike: Max Moog, Polar Bear Plunger

We have a profound respect for those who participate in the Polar Bear Plunge. Not only do they raise money for Special Olympics Maryland, but they do so by dunking into the chills-inducing waters of the Chesapeake Bay. These people are the real heroes. So before Saturday's Plunge in Annapolis, we caught up with Hampden resident Max Moog, plunging for the second time. The 30-year-old financial controller and full-time student at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, will brave the freezing waters with his eight-man team, The Andrew Simons Experience. Moog talked with b about his choice of Plunge wear (no Crocs!) and his un-polar-bear-like diet.

Worst pet peeve? Drivers who don't do the traditional "wave" to say "Hey, thanks for letting me over" in traffic. On the same note, the drivers who do it with so much enthusiasm that they almost cause a three car pile-up. Sorry, Mom. I've been meaning to have an intervention with you about that.

What song are you hating/loving right now? Love: "Houdini," Foster the People. Hate: LMFAO, "Party Rock Anthem," LMFAO

Last concert/gig you went to? Alison Krauss and Union Station at Wolf Trap.

What's the coldest you've ever been? The Ravens-Texans game. I told my fiancé I was a "man" and I didn't need a jacket or gloves. I was terribly wrong. It will be months, maybe years before I stop hearing about it.

Your worst habit? Accidental sarcasm. It just comes out.

Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? Crocs. Make it stop, please. A close second is tights as pants for the ladies. They aren't pants. Let's move on.

Best way to recover after the Plunge? Generally, I plunge again a few moments later. It's a double dip if you will. The rest of the afternoon is spent trading stories with other plungers and trying to stay warm — a beer or two helps.

TV shows you can't get enough of? "Modern Family,""Happy Endings"

Best outfit to wear to the Plunge? Water wings (safety first), a bathing suit (public nudity is frowned upon by the State Police) and some nice goggles are essential.

Baltimore artist you love? Robert McClintock, although he is technically from Vermont. I love and own many pieces of his. Ironically, we have similar backgrounds.

Food you hate? Polar bears like fish. This imposter does not.

Favorite place to get a drink? 13.5% in Hampden is a solid go-to for the neighborhood. I also frequent Roy's in Harbor East … and I really like Rye, the new bar in Fells.

Favorite thing about Baltimore? The Chesapeake Bay — even though it will be almost frozen next time I see it!
