'Jersey Boys,' Fells Point Fun Festival and more top Baltimore-area events this week

Free Fall Baltimore

The perfect month for Baltimore culturistas on a budget, Free Fall Baltimore, running through October, offers entry to scores of the city's museums, performance venues and other cultural installations, and it doesn't cost a dime. More than 200 events and activities in all. Opening weekend highlights include an open house at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center, 847 N. Howard St. (11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday), an evening of one-act plays at Theatre Morgan's Turpin-Lamb Theatre, 2201 Argonne Drive (7:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Saturday) and a Chamber Music by Candlelight performance, courtesy of Community Concerts at Second, at Second Presbyterian Church, 4200 St. Paul St. (7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. next Sunday). Other highlights include free admission to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on Oct. 5 and an open rehearsal of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St. Although all events are free, some have limited ticket availability. 'Jersey Boys'

Chestertown Harry Potter Festival

Three days of all things "Potter" — talks, a costume contest, sales of crafts and licensed merchandise, even a Quidditch tournament. Baltimore Jazz Fest

Presented by the Baltimore Jazz Alliance and featuring a range of local acts, including the Hot Club of Baltimore, the Greg Hatza Organization, Rumba Club, Clarence Ward III and Art Sherrod Jr. This first festival could be the start of a grand tradition. Fell's Point Fun Festival

One of Baltimore's oldest neighborhoods lets its hair down, with a weekend of food, music and vendors selling just about everything imaginable. Plus tons of neighborhood color. 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. next Sunday in Fells Point, centered around the intersection of Broadway and Thames Street. 13th Floor Bourbon Trail

'Luke Cage'

Impervious to harm and a member of the soon-to-have-their-own-series The Defenders, the first black superhero in the Marvel universe to have his own comic book (back in the days when he was known as "Hero for Hire") comes to Netflix. Mike Colter stars as Cage; others in the cast include Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Frankie Faison and Frank Whaley. Available Friday.

A collection of 48 posters, the work of a feminist collective using humor, satire and attention-getting graphics to "expose gender and ethnic bias as well as corruption in politics, art, film, and pop culture."
