Visual arts: 'The Big Hope Show'

Artwork by Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne may be the big draw for the American Visionary Art Museum’s 20th anniversary exhibit, but this show will have plenty to offer. It will include photographs and scrapbooks by Bob Adams, a former member of John Waters’ crew, and a video tribute to California Highway Patrolman Kevin Briggs, who helped save the lives of more than 200 would-be suicide jumpers. Oct. 3 through Sept. 4, at the museum, 800 Key Highway. $9.95-$15.95; members free. Preview party at 7 p.m. Oct. 2. $20; members free. — MCM
