Don't worry, Baltimore. You're getting more time to ice skate

Don't unlace your ice skates quite yet.

The Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore announced today that its ice rink in McKeldin Square, originally slated to close for the season on Jan. 19, will remain open through President's Day, Feb. 16.

It's just as Washington and Lincoln would have preferred.

The rink, which opened Nov. 21, has attracted 15,000 skaters this season, according to the Waterfront Partnership.

"We’re thrilled the community has embraced the ice rink as it has over the past month and a half, and are grateful to our sponsors for helping us keep it open longer,” said Laurie Schwartz, president of Waterfront Partnership, said in a press release. “It was always our hope to keep it open into February but we wanted to wait to see if Baltimore embraced the rink – and they did, in a huge way."

The rink, at 101 Pratt St., will shift its hours to Thursday through Sunday, from Jan. 22 to Feb. 16. It is open seven days a week through Jan. 19.
