Bill Cosby remains on schedule for March at Lyric

Embattled comedian Bill Cosby remains on the schedule of the Patricia & Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric.

Cosby, 77, has been beset in recent weeks with claims of sexual abuse. He is set to perform at 8 p.m. March 27. Though several of his recent concert dates have been canceled, the Lyric has no comment on the status of his Baltimore appearance as of Wednesday morning, according to Nicoletta C. Macris, director of marketing & PR for the Lyric.

The event is still listed on the Lyric website, and numerous tickets ($50-$85) remain available on Ticketmaster.

In the past couple of months, more than a dozen women have accused the comedian of sexually assaulting them in incidents dating back to the 1970s. Cosby has not been charged and denies the allegations, and his attorney has called the claims "unsubstantiated, fantastical stories" in statements released to media outlets.

More than 30 upcoming concerts are listed on Cosby's website. But performances have been canceled in Arizona, Illinois, Nevada, South Carolina and Washington state. A theater in Tarrytown, N.Y., kept two performances Dec. 6 on its schedule but offered refunds to patrons. Hundreds of people returned their tickets, and the theater is increasing security for the performances, according to the Daily Voice.

Among the cancellations was one planned for Dec. 5 at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. Dr. Ben Carson, the renowned Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon who may be a Republican candidate for the White House, is set to replace him.
