Two rounds of voting have brought us to the Sweet 16 in our Maryland Film/TV Showdown. Things are getting down to the wire (pun very much intended) as the best of Baltimore films, TV shows, miniseries and directors face off. The top sixteen sees the departure of some classics, but we’re one step closer to crowning a champion. In case you missed the original 64, here's the first round, with descriptions of the "teams." Voting for this round ends Monday.

Best of Maryland TV: Shows that take place in Maryland
(1) The Wire vs. (4) House of Cards
"The Wire" has been this bracket's front-runner all along, and it unsurprisingly toppled "Roc." However, it could meet its match with "House of Cards;" although the latter doesn't take place in Baltimore, it's one of today's most binge-worthy shows. It beat "Hannibal" by a healthy margin.
(3) The Corner vs. (2) Homicide
"The Corner" just barely nudged "Veep" out of the White House, creating a David Simon face-off. It goes head-to-head with "Homicide," a look at the eponymous unit in the Baltimore Police Department, which sent "Ace of Cakes" packing.
