If you try airboarding, prepare for major air, and some super slick twists and turns. If you need to get out of the cold (or air), the resort also has a full arcade room in the Main Lodge with everything from video games to foosball. Dining/drinking options: The Main Lodge plays host to two eateries. Hickory Dinning Room offers three square meals and a gorgeous view, while Laurel Lounge has a full bar and pub food, with specials on wings and tacos. Don't want to head back to the main resort? Check out Bear Paw Food Court right by the ski area for subs, soups and other options. Rates: Value (Dec. 14-25 and March 3-16) $25-75; prime season (Jan. 1-Feb. 28) weekdays $25-85, weekends $30-$120 Classes: Skiing and snowboarding classes range from beginner to advanced. Lodging options: Canaan Valley Resort has rooms in the lodge as well as cabins or cottages. These cabins and cottages come with a built in fireplaces and baseboard heating to keep you warm and toasty through the night. If you're looking or somewhere off site, the Canaan Village Inn is less than 10 minutes from the slopes. Special events: Wild Thing Weekend (March 1) will include discounted rates, loads of contests and the annual pond jump, where competitors will risk plunging into freezing water for a chance at glory. Canaan Resort's media representative, Lenora Testerman, said that "people compete on tubes, skis, or snowboards," and that very few people actually make it to the other side.
