Ben Stone, executive director of the Station North Arts & Entertainment District Inc., has resigned.
His last day with the promotional group — which helped turn the neighborhoods of Charles North, Greenmount West and Barclay into the state's first designated arts-and-entertainment district — will be April 9.
Stone, who has been executive director since August 2011, has accepted a position at Washington's Smart Growth America as director of arts and culture. On Wednesday, Stone said he was proud of the work done in Station North, and that his exit is based on an "opportunity present[ing] itself."
"I'm excited to work on something on a larger, national scale," Stone, a Baltimore native, said.
