On the eve of its 50th anniversary season, Baltimore's Shriver Hall Concert Series has named a new executive director: Catherine Cochran, executive producer for new initiatives and director of music programming at New York's 92nd Street Y. She succeeds Stephen Jacobson, who stepped down at the end of the 2014-2015 season.

Cochran begins her Shriver Hall tenure on July 20.  In a statement released Tuesday, she said she was looking forward to furthering the organization's "remarkable record of presenting today's most compelling artists, while deepening its engagement with Baltimore's communities."

Board of directors chair Geoffrey L. Greif said the series was "extremely fortunate to have attracted a new executive director with so many skills and such a depth of knowledge ..."

Cochran, who has a B.A. in music from Yale University, has worked for 14 years at the 92nd Street Y, one of the city's major music presenters.
