Baltimore County school air conditioning by district

When he delivered his budget proposal last week, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced that his plan would include money for air conditioning at a dozen schools.

The County Auditor’s office has prepared a chart for the County Council showing the proportion of schools with and without air conditioning in each councilmanic district.

The chart (  shows that under Kamenetz’s plan, the councilmanic district with the highest proportion of air conditioned schools would be Councilman Ken Oliver’s 4th District, with 82 percent of buildings air conditioned. The lowest is Councilwoman Cathy Bevin’s 6th District, at 55 percent.

District 1 (Councilman Tom Quirk): 62 percent

District 2 (Council Chairwoman Vicki Almond): 75 percent

District 3 (Councilman Todd Huff) : 68 percent

District 4 (Councilman Ken Oliver): 82 percent

District 5 (Councilman David Marks): 60 percent

District 6 (Councilwoman Cathy Bevins): 55 percent

District 7 (CouncilmanJohn Olszewski Sr.): 64 percent

Check out the chart below for more details.  An asterisk denotes that air conditioning is planned for that school.

The Kamenetz administration has said it picked the schools that cost least to air-condition first.
