Stedman Graham to speak at Coppin State University graduation

Stedman Graham, an entrepreneur and motivational speaker known for his longtime relationship with Oprah Winfrey, has been chosen to speak at Coppin State University's graduation on May 19.

Graham was at the university in October to launch a mentoring program for students with the president, Maria Thompson.

"Stedman Graham's philosophy that individuals hold the power to their own educational and personal success is so impactful." said Thompson in a statement.

Coppin is holding its 118th commencement ceremonies for 500 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree graduates in two ceremonies, one at 10 a.m. for the College of Arts, Science and Education, and a second at 3 p.m. for the College of Business and the College of Health Professions. Graham will speak at both ceremonies, held on the university's Baltimore campus.

Graham is CEO of S. Graham & Associates, a Chicago-based management and marketing consulting firm, according to his website.

Graham teaches an "identity message" to organizations and colleges throughout the country.

Stedman Graham has authored 11 books, including two New York Times best sellers, "You Can Make It Happen: A Nine-Step Plan for Success" and "Teens Can Make It Happen: Nine Steps to Success," according to his website.

He played basketball professionally in the European League.
