Only one Maryland public school system remained open Tuesday following a winter storm that left much of the state under a coating of snow.
Garrett County was the only one of 24 Maryland school systems to open Tuesday. The 12 schools — eight elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools — in Maryland's westernmost county opened two hours late.
The remainder of the state's education system was shut down Tuesday.
