Credit union secures naming rights to HCC college arena

The largest indoor venue in northeastern Maryland will be known as the APG Federal Credit Union Arena at Harford Community College.

The credit union will contribute about $50,000 annually for the next 15 years for the naming rights to 3,200-seat arena under construction on the college's campus in Bel Air. That funding will finance scholarships and pay for operations and programming in the arena, according to the naming agreement announced Monday night.

The arena, scheduled to open within the next academic year in HCC's Susquehanna Center, will house the college's basketball and volleyball teams and will provide the surrounding community with space for a wide range of events, including high school commencements.

Dennis Golladay, HCC president, predicts the arena will become the focal area for students as well as for the entire community of northeastern Maryland.

As the sponsor of the arena, APGFCU will have its name and logo on interior and exterior signage, the arena floor, pillars and scoreboard. The business will be recognized on arena advertising, posters, sports schedules, event programs and playbills.

The college has also made 1,200 arena seats available for naming at a cost of $100 each.
