FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) — Frostburg State University's new president says the school will be analyzing why there has been an apparent increase in violence and bad behavior taking place on and around the campus.
Frostburg President Ron Nowaczyk tells the Cumberland Times-News that school officials will study the incidents over the summer and will work to determine the differences between the anecdotal stories and the facts.
FSU student Malik Green was one of two teenagers stabbed during an Oct. 11 incident near the campus.
Nowaczyk, who officially took over May 9, says he will also be focusing his efforts on issues including college affordability and further developing relations between the university and the community.
Nowaczyk comes from Clarion University in northwestern Pennsylvania, where he was the vice president of academic affairs.
