Anne Arundel seniors walk across stage in cap and gown as part of diploma pick up, online graduations come to an end

Thursday evening marked the final day of digital commencement ceremonies for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, an effort to celebrate high school seniors despite the pandemic.

The diploma pickup allowed for small groups of family members to stand at a safe distance and watch seniors walk across the stage, donned in their cap and gown. Anne Arundel County public high schools are still holding diploma pick up events next week, said school spokesman Bob Mosier.

The events were in combination with the school system’s overall graduation plan. The recorded ceremonies showed photos of the graduating seniors and played videos of speeches from students, principals, school board members and the superintendent.
