In his first start for the Power, he pitched four scoreless innings, striking out two. In his second start, he pitched nine innings, giving up four hits and no walks. He struck out four and left with the score tied, and Niagara went on to win 3-2 in extra innings. Posey retired 19 batters in a row – 13 on ground balls – by often using off-speed pitches.

As an EMU player this season, Posey was 4-3 with a 2.81 earned-run average. When he wasn't pitching, he played first base.

Consistently batting leadoff, he led the Royals with 54 hits, 35 runs and a .367 batting average, and his on-base percentage of .460 was fifth in the Division III Old Dominion Athletic Conference. That helped him earn third-team All-ODAC honors.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder drew 19 walks and struck out only eight times. Eastern Mennonite finished 15-24, accumulating its most victories since 2002.

As a senior at Poquoson High, Posey was 6-0, and he pitched a three-hit shutout in a state semifinal to help the Islanders to the 2010 state Group AA championship.

Posey was a starter on the 2011 runner-up team at the Palomino League World Series in California.
