Dec. 23, 1986: Introduced as head coach.
Sept. 12, 1987: Hokies lose 22-10 at Clemson in Beamer's debut.
Oct. 3, 1987: Beamer's first Tech victory in a 31-11 dusting of Navy.
Oct. 7, 1989: Hokies win 12-10 at No. 9 West Virginia, Beamer's first conquest of a ranked opponent in eight attempts, the program's first over a top-10 foe since a 1964 upset of No. 10 Florida State.
Nov. 24, 1990: Beamer earns his first win over Virginia in four tries with a 38-13 rout at Lane Stadium.
Dec. 31, 1993: Tech defeats Indiana 45-20 in the Independence Bowl, Beamer's first postseason victory.
Nov. 11, 1995: Hokies tout Temple 38-16 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., to clinch Big East title, their first conference championship since 1963's in the Southern.
Dec. 31, 1995: Tech beats Texas 28-10 in the Sugar Bowl to cap a 10-game winning streak and earn the program's first major postseason victory and top-10 Associated Press poll finish.
Nov. 9, 1996: A 35-14 rout of East Carolina marks Beamer's 100th career coaching victory.
Nov. 26, 1999: Hokies defeat visiting Boston College 38-14 to complete their first 11-0 regular season and clinch a spot in BCS title game.
Jan. 4, 2000: Tech loses national championship game 46-29 to Florida State in Sugar Bowl.
Jan. 1, 2001: A 41-20 Gator Bowl victory over Clemson proves to be Michael Vick's final game for Hokies.
Sept. 8, 2001: Beamer's 100th win at Tech is a 31-0 dusting of visiting Western Michigan.
Dec. 4, 2004: In their first season of membership, Hokies claim ACC title by defeating Miami 16-10 at the Orange Bowl.
Dec. 3, 2005: FSU upsets Tech 27-22 in the inaugural ACC championship game, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Sept. 15, 2007: A 28-7 victory over Ohio at Lane Stadium is Beamer's 200th overall.
Dec. 4, 2010: Hokies complete an improbable rebound from an 0-2 start with their 11th consecutive win, 44-33 over Florida State in ACC title game in Charlotte, N.C. It's the program's fourth ACC championship in seven years of membership.
Feb. 14, 2011: Beamer announces the hiring of a new running backs coach, his son, Shane.
