Phoebus gains a new restaurant

The Phoebus section of Hampton gains a new restaurant with the opening of The Point on Aug. 10 in the space formerly occupied by Paul’s Restaurant.

Cat Kane, who owns the restaurant with Joshua Stivers, has put together a menu featuring crab cakes and seafood, steaks and other American bistro-style items. Both worked at restaurants in the Ghent section of Norfolk, Kane at The New Belmont and Stivers at The Public House, before deciding to open their own restaurant.

The Point will will seat about 70 diners on the inside with additional seating in the front and out back where a large mural has been created by painter Kerry Myers.

Kane says she’s aiming for an over-30 crowd. Initial hours will be 3 p.m.  to midnight Sunday-Thursday and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday-Saturday.

The Point. 30 E. Mellen St., Hampton. 757-224-9299.
