Bengies Drive-in Theatre in Middle River will reopen Wednesday night with a double feature of the films “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Jumanji: The Next Level.”
The Baltimore County theater posted on Facebook that it will start its 65th season with the double feature at 8:45 p.m.
The theater’s owner, D. Edward Vogel, had been vocal in opposing Maryland’s previous business restrictions, which kept drive-in theaters closed despite their resurgence in other states as people look to escape isolation during the coronavirus pandemic.
On Facebook, the theater wrote that ticket sales will be online only and that the box office opens at 7 every night and closes at 10.
The theater is instituting a number of rules to keep customers properly distanced, including requiring patrons to wear masks until their car is parked and not allowing them to serve themselves at the snack bar.
