An Eastport Annapolis Neck library employee has tested positive for coronavirus, the second case at the branch this month and the third case of November for the county library system.
Anne Arundel County Public Library spokeswoman Christine Feldmann confirmed the case Tuesday. The employee was last in the building on Nov. 16 and was not symptomatic, Feldmann said. The health department does not believe the case is related to another employee testing positive at the branch last week. They advised the system that the library could remain open, Feldmann said.
There have been nine employee coronavirus cases in the system this year.
A Glen Burnie Library employee tested positive for the virus on Nov. 2.
The fourth library employee case in October led to the system shutting down a branch for the first time during the pandemic. After a Maryland City at Russett Library employee tested positive the branch closed Oct. 13 and 14 “out of an abundance of caution” for cleaning and employees to be tested.
Two employees tested positive at the Severna Park branch earlier last month, along with a library headquarters employee.
The system’s policy requires all returned library materials be quarantined for six days. Library staff and customers have been following health and safety protocols including required mask usage; distancing of at least six feet; sneeze guards at points of interaction; limited numbers of customers in the building at one time and enhanced cleaning.
