In the wake of the mass shooting in an Orlando gay club that left 49 dead and 53 more wounded, TT the Artist has released the track 'God Bless the Children,' part of her forthcoming debut full-length "Queen of the Beat," and dedicated the song to the victims.
The song's single art now features a rainbow-colored Florida with a heart marking the location of Orlando, and the opening samples President Barack Obama's remarks about the shooting, in which he says the shooting "regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation is an attack on all of us. This could have been any one of our communities."
Similarly, 'God Bless the Children' zooms out to look at the many ways people in America have become divided or desensitized to the issues of the day that no progress is ever made for the future.
On Facebook, TT posted the following message about the song: "I wrote and produced this song as a way to reflect on what's going on in the world nationwide and globally and how the next generation will be affected. Working closely with my produced [sic] Mighty Mark we set out to create a melodic and poetic rhythm to drive the content of the song. In light of the Orlando massacre I wanted to premiere this track to inspire people to continue to be strong and have hope as we face turmoil and terror in our communities. I send my condolences to all the families that have lost their children and loved ones in this tragic event."
