Sandy Rosenberg, a delegate from the 41st legislative district in Baltimore, today posted a message on his Facebook page saying that the district's whole legislative slate—Senator Lisa Gladden and Delegates Nathaniel T. Oaks, Jill P. Carter, and Rosenberg—had sent a letter to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, urging her to change the name of Robert E. Lee Park in North Baltimore:
We should change the name of Robert E. Lee Park. My 41st District colleagues and I wrote Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
We write to urge you to support Baltimore County's request to rename the Robert E. Lee Park the [sic] Lake Roland Park.
We should not honor an individual who led the forces in rebellion against the United States of America on behalf of secessionists who sought to perpetuate slavery.
When both children and adults visit this park, they should be inspired by the action we urge you to take, not the honor we once bestowed on a leader of the Confederacy.
