There are so many things that Baltimore does better than all of the other cities but the one worth boasting about here is the way in which arts events and activist events so frequently share space in an organic, smart, and (hey, this is important) fun and entertaining way (I wrote a whole story about this in March, titled "F The City Up"). Rapper/writer/poet/speaker/organizer/occasional CP contributor Abdu Ali has done this expertly before —an event in February featured performance artists Andromonym Globose Capitchula, DJ Haram, and poet (and CP contributor) Tariq Touré—and now, to celebrate the release of his excellent new album, "Mongo" he gathers punk group Wet Brain, poet Fire Angelou, globally-minded DJ Vicunyah, and performance artist Bobby English Jr. 9 p.m., The Crown, 1910 N. Charles St., (410) 625-4848, thecrownbaltimore.tumblr.com, $7. (Brandon Soderberg)
