A 10,000-square-foot sports bar between Horseshoe Casino and M&T Bank Stadium is slated to have its grand opening on Saturday, May 16, according to the owner James Trujillo.
The tentatively named Game Sports and Social is located in a large one-story warehouse at 1400 Warner St., about a block away from Horseshoe Casino. "I like [the location] because of the proximity to the stadium and the proximity to Federal Hill and the downtown district," Trujillo said, "and I'm pretty confident that we can attract people over there ourselves." Instead of competing with the Horseshoe, Trujillo envisions that the bar's patrons might go over to the casino to gamble as part of their night out at his establishment.
One half of the bar is going to contain space for DJs and bands to perform, but "we still have to get our entertainment approved through the zoning board," Trujillo said, so for now it will open up as a bar first with a game room in the back half. "Our goal is to offer live entertainment in the form of DJs and bands, but we're definitely not doing concerts or anything like that," he said.
