10:37 p.m. Two hours later and three miles due east, on the 900 block of West Fayette Street, three people were killed and another was wounded by gunfire in an incident involving multiple suspects and, police say, two vans. Jacqueline Parker, a 53-year-old African-American woman from the 1000 block of West Baltimore Street, Gerald Thompson, a 34-year-old African-American man who lived on the 900 block of West Fayette Street, and Lamont Randall, a 39-year-old African-American man who resided on the 2300 block of Aiken Street, all died. A woman who showed up at a hospital with a bullet in her buttocks is expected to survive. Police said one van was white, the other burgundy in color, but have released no details about how the vehicles were involved in the carnage. The police stress that the University of Maryland, whose campus borders the Poppleton redevelopment district where the shooting happened, has no connection to the violence and that “this was not a random act of violence but a targeted incident.” They say three or four suspects were involved.
