Like many people with a (password to a) Netflix account, one of my favorite things to do in the evenings is to sit down with a drink and watch "Planet Earth," or any of Sir David Frederick Attenborough's illuminating nature docu-series ("Frozen Planet," "Blue Planet," "Africa," "Life," and several others are all on Netflix—what a time to be alive). You get to see the planet's HD wonders from the comfort of a couch and a nearby beer fridge. For one weekend every summer, you can go outside and experience some of those booze-enhanced spectacles IRL. With unlimited samplings of over 80 local and national beers, those giraffes can seem even goofier, and, with enough sampling, the chimps might seem like they're really moving in slo-mo. Also on hand are food and craft vendors and live sets from Bosley, the Kelly Bell Band, and more. Sir David will not be there to explain why the polar bear is doing that weird thing, but you can pretend. 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m., The Maryland Zoo, 1876 Mansion House Drive, (410) 396-7102, marylandzoo.org, $55 ($25 for under 21/designated drivers; Saturday tickets sold out).
