Kicker Justin Tucker has scored 23 extra points and 24 field goals for the Ravens so far this season, several of which have been game-winning scores, but he has another impressive talent off the field: opera singing. Tucker will put that talent to charitable use next week in a special guest performance at the Catholic Charities' Christmas Festival.
Tucker first began singing opera in college when he had to take voice lessons to fulfill degree requirements, he says in a video on the NFL's website. The video also has plenty of clips of him singing, if you want a preview for the Christmas Festival, as well as interviews with his teammates who talk about hearing Tucker sing in the locker room shower.
The concert, which takes place next Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Cathedral Street, will feature a mix of sacred and secular holiday music. Soprano Lara Bruckmann and the Concert Artists of Baltimore will also be performing, with a reception afterward—who knows, maybe you'll be able to talk to Tucker there.
