You were right and we were wrong. Are you happy? You said Shoo-Fly, the Woodberry group's attempt to convert a, shall we say, challenging restaurant space at Belvedere Square into an earnest family diner, was doomed. Restaurants tended to crash and burn in this cantilevered space, a former Hess Shoe store. But we said the family-diner concept was a natch for North Baltimore, where families are desperate for good fare. It was a good effort but ultimately way too earnest and self-conscious, too much heritage typography, not enough gravy. We were wrong, and you were right, but not for not for the right reasons. Something can, and will, work there. Next?
