Not too far from the epicenter of last year's uprising, Everyone's Place African Cultural Center has been a staple in West Baltimore for 30 years. A far cry from the despotism of less-than-noble big book stores and online retail sites whose slogans parrot the monopolization of the global market, Everyone's Place evokes the memories of mom-and-pop stores. Everyone greets you with love, kindness, and respect. On the first floor you can choose from a wide array of dashikis, headdresses, oils, soaps, and African amulets. On the second level there is a library of books and DVDs that range from occult history to health and wellness.
