It's been more than 100 years since the DiPasquale family opened their Italian market on Gough Street in East Baltimore. Back in the day, that section of Highlandtown had a large Italian immigrant population. Now the neighborhood's a little more diverse, but DiPasquale's remains a favorite lunch and shopping spot. The century old market still has the best selection of Italian wines, meats, dry goods, cheeses, and imports like real Nutella in Baltimore. On the deli side, you can't beat their homemade meatballs and fresh baked bread, which is made all day and in a variety of styles. Did we also mention that it's still in the same family? Proprietors Joe and Sabrina DiPasquale are as passionate about the surrounding neighborhood as they are about the dishes served up each day. Locals cram the dining room and talk all things East Baltimore. And you can get a bottle of wine with your "Santino" (our favorite) sandwich. Get your homemade mozzarella and wines there, and maybe they'll be around for another 100 years.
