Patrick's of Pratt Street was easy to take for granted. Founded in 1847, the bar is thought by some to be the oldest Irish pub in the U.S. It was easy to think it would always be there. But that all changed in July, when owners Patrick and Anne Rowley suddenly announced they would be auctioning the Hollins Market space. It is their business, of course, and they can do with it as they please, but it's always sad when Baltimore loses a part of its heritage. Hopefully whoever wins the auction, set for Sept. 14, sees it the same way.
