Back in June, Nacho Mama's, a Canton restaurant known for serving margaritas in hubcaps, took a brief dip in a viral stew for a joke it made on its specials menu about Caitlyn Jenner. The joke, more like a glancing remark, was in a cartoon speech bubble coming from the restaurant's sombrero-wearing Mr. Boh mascot, who often takes irreverent shots at sports figures in the news, typically sitting ducks like Tim Tebow and Tom Brady. On the menu in question, the mascot says, "I guess Caitlyn Jenner will be the only Kardashian on a magazine cover with clothes on." Underneath is a photo of the Austin Powers movie character with his stock phrase, "That's a man baby!" After an afternoon of social-media blasting, the restaurant removed the menu from its Facebook page but never actually apologized. And then this happened: not much. Concerns were expressed, those who patronized Nacho Mama's continued to patronize it, and those who didn't continued to . . . not.
