While some of our local politicians leave us wavering between frustration and embarrassment, City Councilman Brandon Scott seems like one of the good guys. He keeps it pretty open and honest with the media and is a tireless advocate for kids. As vice chairman of the City Council's Public Safety Committee, Scott seems determined to tackle the gargantuan task of making our city safer. Just this week, he introduced a bill aimed at improving police/public relations by establishing a committee to help officers better engage the community. During the primaries, there were rumors that Scott was planning on joining the already overcrowded mayor's race—and we're glad he didn't. There's lots of work to do yet in the City Council and at 32, Scott has plenty of time to seek higher office.
