Northwest Baltimore is the hub for the widest variety of Caribbean food the city has to offer, with most of them located in the Park Heights community. One of the more consistent options in this hub has been Royal Maroon, which is routinely crowded with people waiting for its doors to open at noon on any given weekday. It has a sizable selection of popular dishes from curry goat, to oxtail and red snapper, but it's the jerk chicken that seems to get the most requests if you sit in and listen to customers' orders. It's grilled to a crisp and spicy enough to make you sweat and give your nose the runs. But if sweating your clothes out while eating doesn't sound appealing, grab the BBQ jerk for a milder version of the dish.
