We first visited Ed Bell's body shop seven years ago, when our car was flooding on the inside. After a quick look, he showed us where (and what) the drain holes were on the car, how to open them up more, and where the debris was that clogged them in the first place. The knowledge—and fixing the problem—was on the house. We came back to replace a smashed window years later, and he remembered us (and had the new window installed within two hours). The prices are fair at Ed's, which has been in business for 30 years, and the service provided is more than you'd expect from any mechanic. Plus, the bubblegum-pink-painted waiting room, with its antique jukebox, vending machine, and toys, is as authentically Hampden as a car repair shop could be.
