On a packed Saturday night at 1:30 a.m., the Club Charles can be quite a show. Drag queens, a gaggle of hipsters, local musicians coming down from the high of being on tour, and the extremely drunk are all vying for the attention of the bartender to get in that last drink before last call. Constance Belton deals with this weekly circus with grace and a firm hand. A bartender should be fun to talk to, listen to your personal complaints, put up with cheap-ass customers who haggle over the bill, and make killer cocktails, all while smiling and holding it down on a packed Friday night. Belton's witty, dry humor makes us happy no matter how bad our day, and her take-no-shit attitude at the end of the night has us smitten. Her Manhattan is pretty badass too.
