Baltimore may have struck out with the east-west Red Line or any funding for the major highways under state control that run through the city, but hey folks, the year in transit wasn't a total loss. After years of being on the table, the Circulator's Purple Route is finally going to be extended north to 33rd Street, bringing the free bus service to Charles Village, Old Goucher, and the surrounding neighborhoods. While it is no substitute for the attempt at a comprehensive transit system the Red Line was supposed to be, the newly expanded line will connect now run through the heart of the city and provide an alternative to driving and the ever-infuriating MTA for thousands. At least it's something? Right? Right?
