It should come as no surprise that City Paper recently named Freddie Gray's death in police custody the number one news story of 2015. Gray's death in a police van, and all the events the followed, from the protests and riot to the trials, which we refer to as the Baltimore Uprising, has forever changed the course of our city—and it showed many of the systemic problems that had been lingering for decades beforehand.
City Paper has been covering the story since the very early stages, and the timeline below organizes and chronicles much of that coverage. In addition to hard news, there's cultural reporting, photo essays, galleries, and profiles of important figures. There's still plenty more to report on, and as we do, this timeline will be updated.
