WEDNESDAY: 'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Baltimore, the only live music was John & Ron at Joe Squared.
THURSDAY: Unless you happen upon some Christmas carolers, you're probably not hearing any live music tonight.
FRIDAY: Baltimore screamo band Pianos Become The Teeth headlines Baltimore Soundstage with Diamond Youth, Superheaven, and Black Clouds. DEADcember at the 8x10 winds down with A Very Jerry Christmas with Cris Jacobs and friends. The Thorn Apples hold their fourth annual Holiday Hootenanny at the Windup Space with guests The Highland Hill Boys and Swampcandy. Baltimore Free Farm's benefit show at the Sidebar features the Highland Hill Boys, the Baltimore String Felons, Grassgrinder, and Stephen Lee. Rams Head Live has a "Holiday Hangover" with Scarlet Angel,Never The Sun, The Purge Effect, Faceplant, We Love The Underground, and many more. DJ El Suprimo spins at the Metro Gallery's customer appreciation dance party. SATURDAY: Baltimore's inimitable psychedelic worldbeat band Telesma celebrates the Winter Solstice as well as its own 10th anniversary at the 8x10 with Fractal Cat and Voodoo Pharmacology. Unregistered Nurse Booking presents UN XMAS at the Ottobar with L.A. punk supergroup Neonates, Devo cover band Devoids, Post Pink, DJ Dad Weed, and more. Neo-soul power couple Kindred The Family Soul performs at Baltimore Soundstage. Local progressive metal band Intentional Trainwreck plays the Sidebar with Riverview, Machines of Living Death, and Existentium. New Jersey singer-songwriter Noah Pierre plays Rams Head Live with Broken Choice and StarFight. Jenna-Rose Hannah presents the 3rd annual Holiday Hannahfest at the Windup Space with a diverse bill including the latin jazz band Rumba Club, Orlando Cotto,Strange Attractor, and more. Don't miss: Baltimore indie band Sick Sick Birds plays its final show before disbanding at the Metro Gallery, with Dead Mechanical and Sal Bando opening.
SUNDAY: Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green headlines Baltimore Soundstage with I Can Make A Mess and Elder Brother. Tascam presents a battle of the bands at the Ottobar, with a DP-32 Portastudio as the prize. The Apple Scruffs, a Beatles tribute act dedicated more to recreating the band's complex studio recordings than looking the part, plays an acoustic holiday set at The Cabaret at Germano's. Don't miss: Woodbine, Maryland hardcore band Definite plays the Charm City Art Space with Haunt, Birthright, and Wander.
MONDAY: 98 Rock's Noise In The Basement features local bands at the Ottobar. The Dunbar Alumni Jazz Band performs at An die Musik Live. Progressive bands Dopapod and Consider The Source play Baltimore Soundstage. Ohio screamo band Citycop plays the Sidebar with Treeforts, Brightside, and Slow Death. The Windup Space hosts the Kunst und Wahnsinn monthly industrial-music night.
TUESDAY: Ohio pop-punk band The Promise Hero plays an early show at the Ottobar, while the late show features Kid Congo And The Pink Monkey Birds and Chain And The Gang. Local punk band Blackout Brigade plays the Sidebar with Cowabunga Pizza Time. D.C. dream-rock band A MARC Train Home plays the Charm City Art Space with End Year, The Escape Artist, and Naked.
WEDNESDAY:The Cold Spring Jazz Quartet rings in the new year at The Cabaret at Germano's. Electronic bands Papadosio and ELM play Rams Head Live. The Windup Space hosts Winter Woodlum II with Bobby E. Lee & The Sympathizers. Cara Kelly & The Tell Tale and You Already Know play tonight at the 8x10, and then in the early hours of 2015 the Charm City Funk Brigade will play as the sun rises. Baltimore club genius DJ Blaqstarr headlines the #NYEDCRNR bash at the Rock And Roll Hotel in Washington. Don't miss: J. Roddy Walston & The Business finish their big year, in which they scored their second charting single, at Baltimore Soundstage with Sleepwalkers.
IN THE WINGS: FLATOUT at the Windup Space on Jan. 24 will feature a performance from local rap phenomenon Young Moose and DJ sets from Neuport and Abdu Ali.
