The Short List: Boister, Friends Records Anniversary Party, Microkingdom, and more

Holy Ghost Party joins tons of Baltimore bands at the Friends Records' fifth Anniversary celebration, happening Dec. 19-20 at The Ottobar.

WEDNESDAY: City Paper's own Baynard Woods and his band Barnyard Sharks bring their variety show back to the Windup Space with special guests Brothers Kardell.

THURSDAY: Pittsburgh indie rap iconoclast Lord Grunge (of the groups Grand Buffet and Shark Tank) performs at the Windup Space with Future People and Mickey FreeMusiq Soulchild performs his hit R&B ballads at Baltimore Soundstage, and also perhaps some of his terrible hip-hop music under his new rap alias The Husel. On The Bus pays tribute to Grateful Dead as part of the 8x10's monthlong DEADcember celebration. Philadelphia indie bands Plainview and Mike Pays Heat play The Crown's Blue Room with locals Heavy Friends and Reagan Cats. Ohio black-metal band Demonic Christ plays the Sidebar with Hellgoat andVimur. Boston alt-rock band Back Talk plays the Charm City Art Space. Experimental local quartet Water School reunites for a show at the Metro Gallery with Jaabs and Your Imaginary Friend. Soul singer Anthony Hamilton performs his hits at the Meyerhoff. Rapper e-dubble and band27 Lights continue their collaboration at the 8x10. Bluegrass band The Wafflers perform at Joe Squared. Robert Hitz leads an improvisation workshop at An die Musik Live. Local acoustic weirdo Imaginary Hockey League plays songs like 'Drake Would Never Treat Me This Way' at the Charm City Art Space with Small HandsOceans Full Of Friends, and more. Red Dragon Cartel, led by onetime Ozzy Osbourne sideman Jake E. Lee, plays at Fishhead Cantina.
