WEDNESDAY: Post-hardcore band Not Tonight Josephine plays the Ottobar with Baltimore prog-metal band Artifacts. Don’t miss: Baltimore DJ/musician Shawn Smallwood presents #Drumlife at The Depot, a night of loud beats with help from the Sankofa Dance Company’s drum corp. 

THURSDAY: Fozzy, the metal band led by pro wrestling star Chris Jericho, opens for Canadian grunge rockers Theory Of A Deadman at Rams Head Live. Puss N Boots, featuring Norah Jones in an alt-country mode, headlines the Ottobar. 

FRIDAY: The Mushroom City Art Festival at Gallery 788 features musical performances from DEEP G, Canopy, Marian McLaughlin, and more. INCA, a Baltimore indie band led by Jon Birkholz of Soul Cannon, plays a release party for its debut album at the Windup Space. Local psych rockers Hollywood Blanks play the Metro Gallery with DuCru, REZIN, and FaceKiller. An die Musik Live holds a concert of flamenco and classical Spanish music featuring vocalist Meghan Pilar Whittier, pianist Michael Crabill, and guitarist Behzad Habibzai. Don’t miss: Unregistered Nurse Booking kicks off U+NFest 2014 at the Ottobar with Screaming Females, Nothing, BIG MOUTH, Amanda X, and more. 

SATURDAY: The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture’s screening of the hip-hop documentary “The Curators Volume 1: A Story of Independence” will be accompanied by a live performance by local legend Skarr Akbar. This afternoon, Pier Six Pavilion hosts the Chessie Jam Children’s Music Fest, with performances by Justin Roberts, Milkshake, Recess Monkey, and even rap legend Biz Markie in his “Yo Gabba Gabba”-fueled career revival as a children’s entertainer. Creative Differences brings Scottish saxophonist Raymond MacDonald and American pianist Marilyn Crispell to the Windup Space to perform as a duo. The second night of Unregistered Nurse Fest at the Ottobar features Night Birds, Chain & the Gang, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Wildhoney, and more. Philadelphia rockers Marah perform at the Metro Gallery with local singer-songwriter Caleb Stine opening. Baltimore MC/producer Black Disciple performs at Joe Squared with Physical Graffiti and Takt. Wild Eyes pays tribute to the music of Tool at Rams Head Live. WPOC holds its annual Saturday In The Country concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion, headlined by Jake Owen, Eli Young Band, Thompson Square, and Love & Theft. Barcelona-based Latin rock group Jarabe de Palo performs at the 8x10. City Paper contributor Geoffrey Himes hosts a special Roots Café benefit for An die Musik Live, Tin Pan Alley on Charles Street, with local artists like Victoria Vox and Lea Gilmore singing the Great American Songbook. Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Ab-Soul headlines Baltimore Soundstage. Don’t miss: Chicago-based electroacoustic musician Olivia Block performs at the Red Room with Baltimore instrument-inventor Caleb Johnston.

SUNDAY: The 2014 Keepin’ It Crew Tour comes to Rams Head Live with electronic acts Michal Menert, Eliot Lipp, SuperVision, and more. Norwegian aggrotech band Combichrist plays Baltimore Soundstage with William Control, Davey Suicide, and more. The Red Room holds an open experimental improvisation workshop for anyone who’d like to bring an instrument or noise-making device. Florida pop-punk band You Blew It! plays the Ottobar with Citizen, Hostage Calm, and True Love. Don’t miss: Creative Differences brings Philadelphia-based pianist and composer Uri Caine to the Windup Space for a solo set and a set with Michael Formanek, Dave Ballou, and Devin Gray.

MONDAY: The Windup Space holds The Mellow Mix, an open mic for singers, rappers, poets, comedians, and others. 98 Rock’s Noise In the Basement hosts local bands at the Ottobar.  

TUESDAY: The Out of Your Head Collective presents two sets of local musicians improvising at the Windup Space. Dutch symphonic-metal band Within Temptation plays Rams Head Live with Amaranthe. Los Angeles’ Butcher Babies headline Baltimore Soundstage. 

WEDNESDAY: The Windup Space hosts Autumn + Ambience, a night of experimental soundscapes featuring the Michigan duo Matt Borghi & Michael Teager and local musicians Jason Sloan and Lonnie Jordan. British rockers The Kooks once again try to break America, playing Rams Head Live with Halsey and Priory. Teen pop-rockers Hollywood Ending play the Ottobar with Astro Safari USA. Don't miss: Dave Heumann of Arbouretum plays solo at the Metro Gallery with Xylouris White and Smoke Bellow.
