8:53 p.m. Jerome Marlowe Sr., a 73-year-old African-American man, was in his home on the 4100 block of Chatham Road in the Dorchester neighborhood when he was stabbed. He died the next day. Police say Marlowe's son, Jerome Jr., stabbed his father and his 31-year-old sister during a fight at the house. The sister, whose name the police did not release, was hospitalized in serious condition. Police charged Jerome Marlowe Jr. with murder, assault, attempted murder, and a variety of lesser charges. He reportedly said he stabbed his family members in self-defense. Court records show that Marlowe was last convicted of assault in 2002, and of telephone harassment in 1994.
