-Santarchy 2014: Even with Krampus in town, there's no need to succumb to holiday bah-humbuggery. Join the league of drunk Santas (and Mrs. Clauses and elves and reindeer and whatever other holiday getups are out there) and parade around the city in your finest North Pole-ian attire, stopping for warmth and booze. Be ready to carol and end up on an embarrassing viral video. 3 p.m., Federal Hill Park, 300 Warren Ave., facebook.com/SantarchyBaltimore, free. (Maura Callahan)

-Whiskey Tasting with Expert Lew Bryson: Uh oh, Baltimore. You may not be enjoying whiskey to its fullest—a comfort to those of you who have not yet "acquired" its acquired taste, and a boon to us local whiskey enthusiasts. For the distilled spirit that claims the richest and most varied flavors, we are eager to expand our knowledge. Glorified expert of the amber nectar, Lew Bryson, is here to tell us about it. Blue Pit BBQ and Whiskey Bar hosts the aficionado as he reads about whiskey from his new book, "Tasting Whiskey: An Insider's Guide to the Unique Pleasures of the World's Finest Spirits," whetting our appetites for a rich, throat-burning liquid of our own until he actually serves it up to us in an expert-led whiskey tasting. It is best to learn by experience, we always say—especially if that experience is a drink. Our expert has a stack of credentials, including the title of managing editor for Whisky Advocate, writer of several brewery guidebooks (including Maryland's), and host for a new show, "American Beer Blogger," where he surveys various breweries, bars, festivals, and basically any place where drinks are offered—a journey we may have to follow him on if this tasting works out. Atomic Books will be tagging along at the event, selling books, as we tackle this "downright challenging" spirit. Challenge accepted. 3-5 p.m., Blue Pit BBQ and Whiskey Bar, 1601 Union Ave., (443) 948-5590, bluepitbbq.com, free. (Lindsay VanAsdalan)
