John Henry Adams, a 35-year-old African-American man, was walking with a member of his family on the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when a group of men walked up. One of the men in the group-described as a tall, slender African-American man with dreadlocks and a medium complexion-stabbed Adams repeatedly in the torso, and the group scattered. A witness flagged down a police officer. Adams was taken to a hospital, where he died at 7:38 p.m.
